SECTION 10 LMSC RULES See the 2008 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Late Model Stock Car Rules except as noted below for the 2008 Ace Speedway Late Model Stock Cars local rules. 20J-4.3 OPTIONAL CRATE ENGINES 20J-4.3.1 GENERAL SPECIFICATIONS A. GM part number 88958604 are the only crate engines currently approved for use in competition. Any Ford Crate Engine used for 2008 season must submit part number for approval by track officials. Dodge crate engines will be allowed as soon as they are available and approved for use in competition. B. Engine Block must remain as manufactured, meeting all factory dimensions with the exception of maximum allowable overbore and the surfacing of the engine block deck. Angle cutting of the engine block deck will not be permitted. Maximum overbore 4.035 C. Crankshaft must remain as manufactured 53lbs minimum weight. Balancer must remain as manufactured. D. Piston/Rods: Piston must remain as manufactured GM P/N 10159436 no weight reduction or milling allowed, must run 3 rings. Valve reliefs must not be altered. Wrist pin must be used as manufactured. PM rod PN 10108688 is only rod approved for Chevrolet engine, and must be used as manufactured. Only two piece insert style rod and main bearings allowed, no roller bearings will be permitted. E. Oil Pan refer to NASCAR Rule Book F. Cylinder Head P/N 12464298 must remain as manufactured, only machining to valve seat for valve job allowed, no bowl cut allowed or any machining below seat. Combustion chamber must be 62cc or greater. Factory or stainless steel valve are ok, no titanium valves allowed if stainless valves are used must be same diameter and length as factory valve, stem diameter must be same as factory. After market spring seat will be allowed. After market steel valve spring retainer will be allowed, diameter same as factory, factory type keepers only. No titanium retainers allowed. G. Valve Springs P/N 12515483 green strip GM Spring is only valve spring allowed. Installed spring height must be 1.780”. Valve spring must have 105 or less pounds of pressure at installed height 1.780”. H. Minimum piston two head clearance .050 this measurement will be the sum of deck height (Piston to Deck) and compressed head gasket thickness. I. Camshaft P/N 10185071 Hyd. Roller is the only shaft allowed. Lift and duration will be a tech item, must be factory spec. If necessary Cam may be removed from engine and sent to GM Performance for profile inspection. Factory timing chain and gears must remain as manufactured no slotting or degree bushings allowed to change cam location. Valve lifters must remain as manufactured. J. Rocker Arms GM self centering rocker 1.5 or 1.6 is only rocker arm allowed. Push rods must remain as manufactured diameter and length. K. Intake Manifold P/N 12496822 is the only manifold allowed must remain as manufactured. L. The #0-80541-1 Holley 650cfm HP series carburetor is the only carburetor that will be permitted for use with the optional crate engine. Carburetor must remain stock as provided by the manufacturer. Power valve and jets are the only parts that may be changed with stock unaltered Holley parts. No plugs or epoxy may be used. Jet size must correspond with the stamped size. Boosters must be safety wired. THE CARBURETOR YOU QUALIFY ON MUST BE USED DURING THAT NIGHT RACING EVENT(S). M. One one-piece open hole paper gasket, maximum .065 inch thickness, that matches the exterior dimensions of the carburetor throttle base plate must be installed between the carburetor and intake manifold, with no air leaks. N. Ignition System refer to NASCAR Rule Book. O. Anything not covered in this section must meet track approval or will refer to GM Performance for any and all specifications. 20J-4.3.3 PENALTIES A. The track reserves the right to inspect a crate engines at any time. The track reserves the right to impound any car, or any part of any car, for the purpose of technical inspection. Refusal to submit a crate motor for inspection will result in the competitor's engine being declared illegal and the following penalties will be enforced. B. If during technical inspection, at any time, a crate engine is found to have been altered, tampered with, or wrong for any reason whatsoever the engine will be declared illegal and the penalties below will be enforced. C. The penalties for a crate engine that has been declared illegal will be as follows: Disqualification (the driver of a car that is disqualified will receive last place prize money for that race, last place for that race. Loss of any posted bonus awards for that race (pole award, half way leader, etc.). The track may confiscate any illegal part from the engine. The illegal parts will be confiscated by the track. The illegal parts will not be returned under any circumstances. The following penalties will also be in effect for a crate engine that has been declared illegal:
First Infraction: The driver and or car owner may receive a two week suspension from NASCAR competition, a two point race event suspension from competition at Ace Speedway, a fine of up to $1,000.00, and the driver and or car owner may be placed on NASCAR probation for the remainder of the current season, If the fine is not paid in full, the suspensions will continue until the fine is paid in full. Ace Speedway will become the sole owner of the confiscated motor and or any confiscated parts.
Second infraction – A driver or car owner may receive a season long suspension from NASCAR Competition at Ace Speedway and may lose all of his or hers Ace Speedway points for his or her second infraction or for a refusal to surrender illegal crate engine parts. D. If a carburetor used on a crate engine does not pass technical inspection after qualifying (but before the feature race for that division), the track will confiscate the carburetor, the driver’s qualifying time will be disallowed, the driver will forfeit any posted bonus award won up to that point in the event (pole award, etc.), the driver will receive a $500 NASCAR fine and will be suspended from NASCAR competition until the fine is paid in full. If the fine is paid on the day/night of the infraction the driver will be allowed to start at the rear of their race at that event. E. If a carburetor used on a crate engine does not pass technical inspection after the race, the track will confiscate the carburetor, the driver will be disqualified (the driver of a car that is disqualified will receive last place points for that race and last place prize money for that race. The driver will forfeit any posted bonus award won up to that point in the event (pole award, half way leader, etc.), the driver will receive a $500 NASCAR fine and will be suspended from NASCAR competition until the fine is paid in full. 20J-10.8.5 ACE LMSC TIRE RULES A. The following rules will apply to all cars and drivers in the Late Model Stock Car division. B. Tires used for regular races must be purchased at Wednesday night practice and left in the tire building, or on Friday night prior to the race and left at the tire building, or stored in the tire building from a previous race event of the current season. C. New tires, once they have been mounted, may be aired to your pressures using the air at the tire truck only. D. When tires have been mounted, you may measure the tires after they have been aired up (limit of one measurement per tire), then place in the building. There will be a time limit of 10 minutes allowed to do this. E. No other work may be done on the tires until they are released on race night. F. Tires may only be used in competition on the car that they were purchased for, unless otherwise approved by track officials.
G. On race night, tires will be released to the racers at the discretion of the track officials H. After the first race of the season, the maximum number of new tires allowed for use in competition will be 2 (two) per car. All cars will be limited to the use of 2 (two) new tires (maximum) in competition per race night. I. Once you have picked up your tires, you may let the air out and replace with Nitrogen. This must be done along pit road behind the racecar. Anyone working on their tires between the car and trailer is subject to penalties. J. You may bolt the tires directly on the car once you have claimed your tires, and then re-air and measure. Air used in tires must come from the tire trucks air supply, or a large Nitrogen bottle. Using air from portable air tanks is prohibited. K. Tires used for the second race of twin race events may be used from the first race, or you may retrieve tires from the tire building provided you have tires available. L. Tires that are used in an event, and that you wish to use in a future event, must be delivered to the tire building by the allotted time given that night by the officials, or they will not be accepted for storage.
