Racing Action At It’s Best-- 4/14/08 PDF Print E-mail

ALTAMAHAW, N.C.  Friday night at Ace Speedway was filled with racing action. Because of all the regular classes and our guest, the Whelen Southern Modifieds being on the schedule it made for a long night of racing. Scotty Warren of Burlington captured his first win of the year after an exciting Late Model race. It was a battle to the end between Warren and last year’s champion, Rodney Cook as Warren made the pass on the final lap. Burlington’s Robert Turner finished in the third spot with Joseph Tucker finishing fourth and Speedy Faucette finishing in the fifth position.

In the Nascar Whelen Southern Modified event, Mooresville’s  L. W. Miller took the victory.   Miller lead the final 139 laps after taking the lead from Jason Myers. Ronnie Silk, Burt Myers, Jason Myers and Jay Foley finished out the top five. Gibsonville’s Brian King finished sixth here at his home track.

n our Modified division, Brad Allen won his first race of the year. Josh Nichols of Cleveland, NC finished second and Thomas Scott of Corbett Ridge finished in the third position.

Limited Sportsman Division was won by Pelham’s John Moore. Kevan Combs from Oakridge look  home second with Archdale’s Josh Lowder finishing third.

Mocksville’s A. J. Sanders had an impressive race and took home the first place prize in our Mini Stock.

Other Friday night winners were Keith Brame, Jr. and Michael Neal in the twin X-treme car Division.

There will be no race at Ace Speedway this coming Friday night. Ace will be having it’s very first tractor pull event. Everyone is invited to take a look at a different type of horsepower.
