| ASA / Southern Modified Race Tour To Open Season At Ace Speedway |

ACE Regulars Brian King and Rodney Cook & Josh Nichols Head Entry List (King, NC): Officials from Ace Speedway in Altamahaw, NC and the ASA / Southern Modified Race Tour announced the addition of two ASA / SMRT Modified Events at the popular 4/10 mile oval. “We are happy to add a quality track like ACE Speedway to the 2008 ASA / SMRT schedule. I have known Doug Smith since his Concord Motorsport Park days and he and I agree the events will benefit the track and the series. ACE was scheduled to be closed on both dates but Doug and I hammered out a program we felt would work for everyone. The first race will be Friday, May 23rd and the second will be the traditional Labor Day Modified special on September 1st. Doug and the ACE fans love the Modifieds and the Modified teams always look forward to a little “Altamahaw Action”. With the cost of fuel for the fans and teams being what it is right now, we thought this would be a great chance to keep the home-town fans home for the weekend instead of spending that Federal Incentive check somewhere else. We can’t wait to get the season started and ACE will be the perfect place”, said SMRT representative Randy Myers. The ASA / Southern Modified Race Tour features 600 horsepower, open wheel cars on 15 inch wide Hoosier racing tires. Burt Myers was the 2006 and 2007 ASA / SMRT Champion edging out ACE regular, Brian King for the title in a tie-breaker in 2007. King and two-time and defending ACE Late Model Champion, Rodney Cook along with ACE Grand American Modified competitor Josh Nichols headline the entry list for the May 23rd season opener for the tour.
